Old City, Jerusalem, ARRESTED, Freedom March, Nov. 27

ARRESTED! I was arrested by Israeli police around 2 pm on Nov. 27th, 2012 while leading an interfaith freedom march/dialogue in the Old City, Jerusalem. During the 2- hour interrogation, the police threatened to imprison me, send my case to trial and to deport me.

I was arrested in about the same place and carrying the same sign and bull-horn as in this photo which was taken on April 8, 2010 during a similar freedom march/dialogue. The policeman who arrested me and who confiscated my bull-horn and sign told me that I did not exercise my freedom to demonstrate or to speak in the Old City, Jerusalem and anywhere in East Jerusalem. In addition, he claimed I violated the law by not requesting authorization for the march.

I then asked him if he would have granted me authorization and he said “no”. Is Israel becoming a police state?
